Roses have been linked to the feminine for at least 6,000 years, and probably longer.

From Cleopatra to Aphrodite, from the Kama Sutra to the Virgin Mary, from Aishah to Mary Magdalene, roses are the symbol of the sacred feminine.

The Rose simultaneously represents purity and virginity; passion and sensuality. She is the mother and the prostitute. She is the petal and the thorn. She is also frailty, regeneration, cycles of life and fading beauty – all ideas hidden and rejected in today’s culture.

In the center of the gallery, an interactive installation involving living roses and famous poems recalls this historical significance. The words, images and sensations evoke the importance of the feminine archetype and its link to life cycles and nature, calling for the reharmonization our lives.

In a society full of dangerous imbalances, we all need her now more than ever.

Be Rose.
