“While we still ask ourselves how to speak to each other”

Exhibition/Performance/Talks with students

Charles Danforth Gallery at the University of Maine at Augusta

Curator: Amy Rahn

January 24rd to March 6th, 2024

Titled after a quote from the Feminist philosopher Luce Irigaray, this exhibition examines the Feminine as it is associated with practices, qualities, and visualities that Western societies tend to devalue and even suppress, and what the implications of that value system are more broadly. My work often centers domestic labor frequently associated with women and uses craft techniques long undervalued in Western art history. While we still ask ourselves how to speak to each other was built into a collaborative site of re-thinking and re-valuation in an associative field of artworks, performance, collaboration with librarians and conversations with students.
